How to help the Christopher Kohl's Fire Department help others...

There are many ways that different people can help CKFD... and in turn provide valuable assistance to those in need of emergency services! It doesn't matter if you are rich, poor, retired, young, man, women or child... every one can make a difference!

Some ways that you can "help those that help":

  • Become a fire-fighter ("structural", "wildland", and "vehicular")
  • Become an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Paramedic
  • Become a "Support" member... there is always a need for someone to provide:
    • Emergency scene lighting
    • Rehabilitation ("Rehab") for the tired emergency workers, i.e. providing needed water, food and revitalization
    • Resource delivery (Breathing air bottles, fuel, batteries, etc.)
  • Become a member of the "Fire Belles" an organization devoted to fund-raisings and financial assistance for the department
  • Become an "aware" citizen:
    • Know the current "fire danger" conditions
    • Ensure your property is "fire wise" before fire season
    • Ensure there is "access" to your property for fire engines and emergency vehicles
    • Identify and rectify problem access... dead ends, low-hanging wiring, lack of turn-arounds, hazard trees and narrow roads
    • Reduce water use when fire conditions are extreme
    • Properly post your address so it is easily visible
    • Know correct emergency number to call

The firefighters, EMT's, Paramedics and support personnel are invaluable to the community. Your help is always appreciated and you are invited to "help those that help".

"Your help is key to community success"
